From 1980 to 2004 represented a special time for me with hockey During this time, I found baseball cards and even though I enjoyed the search for Will Clark, Matt Williams, Robin Ventura, and my boyhood idol Tom Seaver, I would transition to hockey cards fulltime right around the earthquake during the world series with the A's and Giants.
Most of my fondest hockey memories happened during the late 1980's to the early 2000's. This is not set in stone as even in today's game, players slide in I like. Unlike my Top Ten list, having one gamer or a home & away are sufficient (and sometimes all I can afford). My Top Ten Players can be found here as well. The players I like range in skill level and team. Although my team growing up was the Devils, that has changes as I really enjoy individual players. The players I collect all appear to possess one or more of the following traits:
-American Born Players
-Former NCAA Collegiate Players
-Two-Way Forwards
-Defensive Defenseman
-Offensive Defenseman
-3rd or 4th line grinders, muckers, and role guys.
-Guys who found ways to win through hard work
Listed below are links these players. Simply click on a team logo and be magically transported to a page where I can share with you their impact on me with a jersey of theirs (or more) they wore. Players who have a GOLD border to their card are my favorites and players with black and white hockey cards are ones I have not acquired yet. I was taught to dream big, so... I did as the list is long and vast. . Let's face it there are some on here I may never acquire...
NOTE: About half of the hockey cards below were created from scratch as the players didn't play during the year of the 1992-93 Pinnacle Set. I do not have Photoshop or anything like that so, they were all done using MS (Microsoft) Paint. I am a bit of perfectionist with the cards and have tried to keep with the tradition of this card set with placement of everything. A few liberties were taken so please be understanding.
