Rolston's shot was a cannon that he could drive off the wing, the point, or dare I even say skating in on the shootout. That blast was not only powerful and accurate, but he could get the shot away quickly too. In the early days of the shootout Rolston would skate in, crank his stick back and fire a laser beam that would beat the goalie a little less than 50% of the time.
Rolston also had the wheels to back up his shot. He could blow past defenders coming on off the wing and deliver a wrister. That speed coupled with the shot made him a dangerous weapon that few players want to step in front of to block. Wheels are something that help keep players around longer in the game and for Rolston to essentially last. Rolston was effective on both the PK and the PP. Defensively, Rolston made the most of his skills on the penalty kill. The speed he possessed helped make him a potential short handed threat. He was lethal if a shot got blocked and Rolston got it and could be "off and running". Thirty Three career shorthanded goals do not lie. Switching the Power play Rolston could be parked on the point or half wall where he could just as easily dish off pass or wind up for laser of a shot on goal. On the several occasions we have met, I'll never forget how genuine and pleasant he was whether it was posing for a photo, signing an autograph, or thanking me personally for being a fan of his! 1989-1990 NORTH AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE ALL STAR SET
GAME USE & ABUSE: This is an All Star jersey so thus there is not the wear associated with a full season of use or even a few games. The left sleeve has a fraying to the numbers. On the right sleeve, there are two marks the number "zero" and some more fraying to the numbers. Across the front of the jersey, there is fraying to the crest and stars. There is also a nice stick mark across the "N". The back has heavy fraying the numbers and some very faint marks on them as well.

1992-1993 LAKE SUPERIOR STATE UNIVERSITY HOME WHITE SET
GAME USE & ABUSE: This is one of the heaviest jerseys around despite the mesh. The wear is solid throughout despite no repairs. On the left sleeve, eight marks show up in the white with some general filth/marks in the numbers. Two board burns in the lower forearm complete the wear on the right. Across to the right sleeve, there are close 25 marks which are mostly visible in the white and also in the yellow of the numbers. In addition two board burns can be seen in the blue elbow region and the sleeve hem is fighting a losing battle with a loose thread unraveling. The front of the jersey no less than 20 marks cascade from the crest down. The lower hem is strewn with stick marks, general filth and a pair of skate cuts or unrepaired holes (It is difficult to discern what caused them). The neck has been stretched out heavily probably from a combination of putting on the jersey along with rougher play at stoppages. On the back, twelve light stick marks are tossed about haphazardly and there is some loose threads on the stripes.

1994-1995 NEW JERSEY DEVILS WHITE HOME SET 1
GAME USE & ABUSE: The Left arm has fifteen stick marks and a trio of unrepaired wholes all no greater than a 1/4 of an inch long on the upper red stripe at the elbow while the black band has a single hole of about the same size. There are also some loose threads on the numbers. Over on the right sleeve we see similar loose threads on the #4 while 28 various stick marks grace the lower sleeve from the numbers down. The elbow has an inch long skate cut, three unrepaired holes and three nice board burns that might appear to be holes at first glance all of which is located in the black striping of the elbow. The front has various stick marks all below the middle of the crest down totaling 17 including a monster one over a foot long from the bottom of the crest to the bottom hem of the shirt. A dot of yellow-ish staining is located just wear the tail starts on the logo in the white section inside the circle of the logo. The back is fairly clean with just a long slash mark go diagonally from the middle of the #4 downward to the bottom of the #1.

1996-1997 NEW JERSEY DEVILS WHITE HOME SET 2
GAME USE & ABUSE: Twenty marks alone start the wear on the left sleeve which also features one repair, two unrepaired holes (in the elbow), and at least six board burns scattered around the elbow region. The right arm has twenty-three marks that go un and down the sleeve. In addition, there is one repair (in the black stripe) and two unrepaired holes included a giant flap (2" inches thick at the greatest point) on the lower elbow region). The front of the jersey has twenty stick marks with all but three (located right and left of the crest near the shoulders) located below the crest. On the left shoulder there is are two solid board burns which rounds out the great wear. Like all jerseys, the back does not match the wear on the front. That is not to say that the back doesn't feature wear though. Starting to the left of the #1 and located across the bottom hem, nine stick marks grace the back of this jersey.

1999-2000 COLORADO AVALANCHE WHITE HOME SET
GAME USE & ABUSE: This jersey saw a good many games during the 1999-00 season as Rolston was traded twice during the season. On the front left sleeve, a dozen stick marks show up in the elbow region to the forearm along with a red paint transfer and two nice board burns. The right sleeve has 25 stick marks along with two unrepaired holes (both in the forearm region and probably skate cuts). Over on the front, 22 marks grace the jersey (all are in the white section and crest and show up easily for one to see. A slight yellowing stain appears between the crest and the NHL2000 patch. Is it sweat? Is it Gatorade? Or is it blood? I have no idea, but I love it. The back features nine stick marks across. The most noticeable are the three to the left of the #1 and the two to the right of the #5. Aside from some light fraying to the numbers and nameplate that is it.

1999-2000 COLORADO AVALANCHE NAVY SET
GAME USE & ABUSE: This jersey has limited wear and is likely a set 2 jersey. Starting on the left sleeve, there are six marks that are only visible in the white of the numbers and stripes. The right sleeves features four marks (one of which is in the reinforced elbow region of the arm) and a trio of board burns that have the shine, but not the hole. On the front there are five marks with the best coming on the crest: A massive slash mark or two on the right portion of the crest. More marks may be there, but it is difficult to see in the colors that aren't white. The back of the jersey features, two marks on the the white belly stripe and the #5.

2000-2001 BOSTON BRUINS BLACK ROAD SET 1
GAME USE & ABUSE: The color of this jersey hides a lot of the game use, but there is still plenty to see. Starting on the left sleeve, there are two repairs, five board burns, two unrepaired holes and ten stick marks. The opposite sleeve features a half dozen board burns, just shy of twenty stick marks, and three repairs. On the front there are a mere 22 stick marks with the best of them on the crest or the bottom stripes. The back features just five stick marks and solid fraying to the numbers.

2000-2001 BOSTON BRUINS YELLOW ALTERNATE SET
GAME USE & ABUSE: In total six board burns center around the left elbow region with most of them in the sublimated section of where the yellow meats the black and white. A dozen stick marks also grace this area with the typical fraying on the numbers and "Bruins" patch on the shoulder. The right arm is almost a mirror image of the with about eight more stick marks, one being a nice 3 inch long streak above the number. Just below the crest on front you can see some solid marks. There are about twenty depending on how you count the marks or group them. The back has some good wear to the left and right of the numbers (both in sublimated sections). The #1 side has a good stick mark and the the number #2 side has couple marks.

2001-2002 BOSTON BRUINS WHITE HOME SET 1
GAME USE & ABUSE: Just over 25 marks alone can be counted on the left arm. Four repairs (all, but one in the white elbow region) help round the distinction of a pounded sleeve. The right sleeve is very similar in having around 25 marks as well scattered mainly in the elbow and forearm region. A board burn that has been repaired and two additional repairs also grace this arm. The front shows up two solid repairs where the "A" and the 9-11 patch were on the upper sides of each breast while 20+ marks crisscross the bottom third of the jersey. A mere 15 marks form an "L" shaped splatter pattern starting to the left of the "R" and going down to the bottom third and then over across the hem. Light fraying to the nameplate and numbers has also started.

2002-2003 BOSTON BRUINS BLACK ROAD SET 1
GAME USE & ABUSE: The left arm has four solid board burns on the black of the elbow region. Additionally there are five stick marks in the yellow and white sections of the arm from the numbers downward. Over on the right arm there are five stick marks, six board burns including one that is an unrepaired hole, and a nice board transfer that is red in color. On the front there are 18 stick marks including a nice 10 inch plus mark going diagonally up from the yellow stripe toward the crest. Lastly, you can just barely make out where an "A" was worn on the upper right chest. There is really not much evidence of the removal and you have to let the light hit it just right to see the exact placement of it. On the back of this Rolston jersey you can see some stick marks on the lower hem (yellow and white striping area) totaling six. Fraying and light fading due to washing exists on the numbers and nameplate.

2003-2004 BOSTON BRUINS BLACK HOME SET 1
GAME USE & ABUSE: 8 board burns are on the left arm with half of them losing the battle with heat and have developed into unrepaired holes. In addition five stick marks are located on this arm with the best one oddly being above the numbers. The right arm has six stick marks with a nice one appearing above the numbers again. Additionally you can see similar use in the elbow region that has resulted in four unrepaired holes and five board burns. On the front we sixteen stick marks with all but two coming in the bottom third of the jersey in the stripes. Of the other two marks one is just above the "B" on the logo in the "spoke" and the other just below the "B" in the white. The back of the jersey shows some fading to them numbers and name from washing along with some nice fraying to the bottom parts of the numbers. Aside from that there is very little evidence of game use.

2003-2004 BOSTON BRUINS WHITE ROAD SET 1
GAME USE & ABUSE: This jersey has amazing wear. Starting on the left sleeve, no less than 25 marks speckle the arm. Two unrepaired holes that you could slip dimes or pennies in also add the wear along with four repairs. One of the repairs is a tri-color repair! The opposite arm, has five repairs (all of which are in the white double elbow area) and two unrepaired holes. Marks in general slaughter this arm and there are probably 30+ (as it is easy to lose track). Two blue paint transfers hang around to add the cherry on top. The front of the jersey, has about 25 marks which seem to be most prevalent at or below the crest. A customized neck has also been adjusted, cut, and re-sewn. On the back, four light marks are tough to see and a possible brownish stain up by the nameplate. Blood?

OCTOBER 18th, 2003 GOAL PUCK VS THE LOS ANGELES KINGS
GAME: On October 18th, 2003 Brian Rolston would score against the Los Angeles Kings to bring the Bruins to within one of tying the game at 3 to 3. Rolston beat Roman Cechmanek in net with a shot that was assisted by Partrice Bergeron and Dan McGillis at 4:51 of the third period. The Bruins would score two more goals to beat the Kings with a final score of 4 to 3. This would be Brian Rolston's 234th NHL goal of his career. and 85th as a Bruin.
GAME USE: Game use is light on this Kings puck. Three light scuffs on the back and a few dings and dents on the front on the front of it. All logos and pictures are not cracked or peeling.
PHOTOMATCH: Yeah... right! Nope!

2005-2006 MINNESOTA WILD WHITE HOME SET 1
GAME USE & ABUSE: The wear is limited, but what you do see is very nice. On the left sleeve two marks: one on the #2 on the sleeve, while the other is on the inner arm almost under the arm. The right sleeve has four marks (all of which are in the white except for one on the #1). Additionally, three repairs on the sleeve. On the front, roughly a dozen marks go as far north on the jersey as the crest. The back has two identifying marks. Both to the left of the numbers. One is a beautiful slash through the #1 and the other is right above that mark near the back shoulder.

2011-2012 NEW YORK ISLANDERS BLUE ROAD SET 1
GAME USE & ABUSE: The left arm has two unrepaired holes and a 1" repair in the orange part of the arm. There are also six stick marks in both the orange and white parts of the jersey. On the right we can see four marks on the orange section and a nice 1" x 2" repair in the lower
forearm section. The front has some light stick marks which are visible in the white and orange lower hem of the jersey as well as a faint mark on the logo. A clean back with no wear to speak of minus some light marks and fraying.

2011-2012 NEW YORK ISLANDERS BLACK ALTERNATE SET
GAME USE & ABUSE: The Islanders wore the alternate black set in 11 games during the season. I have to go back and check to see how many were with Rolston on the team as he was moved to the Bruins in February. Aside from a loose thread here or there, there is no signs of wear which is typical of such jerseys. It is a unique jersey, a true 1 of 1, but I do wish it had wear. The game use on the back is also non-existent. There is no evidence what-so-ever of use, but it is a black jersey. The Islanders only issued one jersey to Rolston for the time he was there and this is it.
