Mike Sylvia represents all that I loved about BU from my first game in 1995.
He was a hard worker, a speed merchant, had great hockey sense, and wasn't afraid of anyone. There was a fluidness to his skating that made him tough to defend. When not blazing past the opposition, Sylvia would work through checks and some of his jerseys showcased the amount of slashes and hooks he took. He had crisp passes and a nose for the net. Defenders were always left with a critical choice: take the man or block the pass. As part of the 50 career goal club, it is not hard to see that he could score. Mike Sylvia was easily one of my top five favorites to play for the school. CAREER BOSTON UNIVERSITY STATS (1994-1998)

1995-1997 BOSTON UNIVERSITY RED ROAD SET
GAME USE & ABUSE: The jersey is littered with great wear! Starting on the left sleeve, no less than 45 stick and puck marks grace this sleeve along with four red paint transfers, and a possibly a goof by the equipment gang. It looks as though a "6" was used by accident instead of a "5" and then stripped off before it was sewn down. On the other sleeve, nearly 50 marks run from shoulder down to the end of the sleeve. A inch long repair at the top of the elbow and the light remains of the "TC" patch (Travis Roy) complete the wear. The front of the jersey is peppered with close to 65 marks that reside all across it. There is a good concentration of marks on the belly in the white stripe and just above it in the red as well. Light board burns are both shoulders. Eighteen marks are scattered like shrapnel across the back of the jersey with not pattern or concentration. Light fraying can also be seen on the numbers and nameplate.
